In 2017, 7,663 employees at 119 British Columbia public-sector employers were disclosed on the province’s compensation disclosure (FY 2016-17, the fiscal year ending in 2017). The average disclosed compensation was $100,203 and the median was $88,521 — the disclosure covers only employees above the $75,000 threshold in force that year, not the entire public-sector workforce.
The 2016 list named 6,829 people and the 2017 list 7,663, but the two are not comparable: 2017 draws on source disclosures that have not been collected here for 2016, so the difference is one of coverage rather than of hiring. The average disclosed compensation moves for the same reason and is not a pay trend.

FY 2025 is the only year for which the Statement of Financial Information filings have been ingested, so its headcount is not comparable with earlier years: health authorities, school districts, crown corporations, universities and colleges all go from a handful of disclosed executives to their full over-$75,000 staff. Core government, the one sector covered the same way in both years, grew about 11%. FY 2017 is a smaller break of the same kind (the executive disclosures begin).
