What This Disclosure Covers — and Doesn't

Alberta's Public Sector Compensation Transparency Act applies to agencies, boards, and commissions — not core government ministry employees. Doctors, deputy ministers, and other core public servants do not appear here even if their compensation exceeds the $125,000 threshold. The list also includes board members regardless of pay amount, which is why some entries have very low totals.

Compensation is split across three columns: base compensation, "other pay" (which can include incentive pay, allowances, and benefits classified as taxable), and severance. The "Severance + Other" column in the table above sums the latter two, and total compensation is the sum of all three.

Of these top 25 earners, 25 have non-base compensation, which can be a sign of executive incentive plans or one-off severance payouts when an executive departs.

How Do the Top Earners Compare?

Across all 6,511 records in 2024, the average base compensation is $158,235. The #1 earner makes roughly 7x the average.
